Mariel Vilella
Mariel Vilella is GAIA's Climate Policy Campaigner since July 2010. For the last 10 years she has worked as an environmental justice researcher and campaign coordinator, notably in genetics, food sovereignty, and climate justice issues in Spain, UK and The Netherlands; she's been co-director of the documentary TranXgenia, executive co-editor of Opcions, publications coordinator, and writer, as well as a member of many social justice collectives. Mariel Vilella has an academic background in Sociology (Bachelor's Degree, Universitat de Barcelona), Discourse Analysis and Argumentation (Masters at Universiteit van Amsterdam), Crisis and Risks Communication course (Universitat Rovira i Virgili) and Social Communication (PhD program at Universitat Pompeu Fabra). Based in Barcelona, her community activism includes being an active member of a consensus-based food co-op in a local social centre.
